Luke Chapter 4 Devotional

Challenge: read Luke 4

Devotional, Luke chapter 4

Did you ever hear that one of Jesus’s purposes of life on earth was to be an EXAMPLE for us to learn from or follow? Considering His deity, His perfect life, His life and sacrifice, I strive hard to take to heart what happened to Jesus in the wilderness. The devil even came to Him, and tried to tempt, influence or persuade.

The devil even made sly references to scripture. How did Christ respond?

Luke 4:5-13

And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

Christ responded with, His trust, faith, relationship, and focus unwavering. Additionally He quoted scripture right back at the tempter!

What is your temptation? Be aware that just like the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness, the enemy will seek to tempt you, in your WILDERNESS moments! Gather scripture to refute those temptations. Post them around your house. Study them. Work on scripture memory. Be ready to quote scripture in response to temptation. Eventually, the tempter will flee until another opportune time.

With the Holy Spirit on your side, remember you are on the WINNING SIDE! Always wonderful work and journey in this world for those who seek to serve the most high and only true God.

Someone is watching you. Show them how to be victorious by following Christ’s example. Blessings in His name,
