Our Timing or Gods? The Joy at the End of Waiting!

It’s so easy to say that God’s timing is perfect when we’re not the ones who are waiting!

Isn’t it?

I know, because I have given that encouragement time and again. In times past, however, it was me on the brink of a nervous session when things weren’t going the way I thought they should. Or as fast as they should. Or along the same path they should be traveling.

A good for instance is my own employment situation. I am self-employed as a freelance writer. I have great clients and I am usually never at a loss for contracts. However, over the past few months, there have been plenty of times when we’ve come right to the edge of being “needy” (in the flesh) and I wondered, God, where are my clients? Are you going to make it on time? Have you seen my bank account?

Oh friends, rest assured He sees your bank account! And every other account that means anything. I was reminded of a very special verse of Scripture that has always meant the WORLD to me:

“…Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” (Mark 6:28-30)

_...Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin_ And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the

And its counterpart:

“Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that  Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?” (Luke 12:27-28)

In other words, we really have nothing to worry about! If God is willing to “deck out” these lilies, even above the glory of King Solomon himself, how much more should we rest knowing He will care for us?

When He DOES Show Up…

I don’t know about you, but I’ve SEEN Him show up. Right on time, every time!

Back to those contracts…

As the days pressed on, I reminded God about bills that were due, and that groceries were going to need to be replenished. He reminded me He created an entire world, complete with animals and humans, in 6 short days. Touche!

And, as I really DID know it would happen, He showed up and showed out. The very day I needed the job, it came through.

Just like always!

It’s been that way over and over again. I had to think about the times when Jesus would look at His disciples and say, “How is it you don’t understand?” They had seen Him perform miracles, feeding thousands of people. Then they’d sail on a little farther and seemingly forget all about it! Or so they thought.

He never forgets! His ear is not deafened, and His arm is not shortened that He can’t hear and provide!

I encourage you… if you are in a place of waiting, “Be still” and know that He, truly, IS GOD!
