From my study of Genesis:
The changes emphasize the consistencies of humanity’s journey. We are all, “just human.” More and more I am acknowledging this in my life path, as I look around, as I look back, as I look forward.
Recently I have been blessed to be sharing the camaraderie of some Christian sisters, as we strive to read through the Bible in a year. We read. We comment in our facebook group, and we share observations, insights, ideas, and in this way we are a support and encouragement, and an accountability system for one another.*
Anna asked about the Garden of Eden, “…there He (God) put the tree of life and the tree of good and evil. Why would He do that?”
I responded, “I wonder if it was about posing CHOICE?… process to maturing His creation, because I believe none of the transpiring events were a surprise to Him.”
Rosie validated this thinking with a scripture quote from Deuteronomy 30:15-19, “See I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgements, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to posses. But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you crossover the Jordan to go in and possess. I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore CHOOSE LIFE, that both you and your descendants may live.”
Then another discussion point brought up was Abram’s moral position and behavior when offered a bribe of earthy treasure in return for betrayal of loyalty to people that he went to rescue from a captor and oppressor. Yes, all of this in our Bible study!
Abram choose people over treasure, and would not take the bribe. Thank you Stacey for highlighting this important point! Abram choose LIFE. He honored people over possessions (his tribe so to speak, created in God’s image) and there fore honored God because His motive was to use his leadership to live a way that pleased God.
Abram became Abraham and the father of the Jewish people through which the Messiah Jesus Christ was born.
Then, now, and always, this is the consistency. It is about CHOICE. No matter the changes through out history, we each have a choice to make.
Would you pray with me?
Dear Father in Heaven,
Thank you for giving us freedom. Thank you for giving us CHOICE. I know that it is your will that people have freedom and choice.
I know that the need in the world is great. We are in desperate need of YOU, and I thank you for our savior whose righteousness covers me.

I choose Jesus as my savior.
I desire that Your Holy Spirit guide me and strengthen me to lead me in Your ways, your commandments, and your statutes. I want to live by the tree of LIFE which you provide.
All glory and honor be yours. In Jesus’s name I pray.
This post reminds me of my post at Grandma Mary Martha, called, “Holy Spirit be my Stead,” and in Bible study, I found this word “stead” in Genesis 22:13! I would love for you to take a look at my poem (it is short and with more scripture): HOLY SPIRIT BE MY STEAD
